Frequently Asked Questions
1. What types of projects do you take on?
We design residential renovations, additions, and new custom homes, as well as commercial projects including offices, retail spaces, and community buildings.
2. Do you only work in Charlottesville?
Our office is based in Charlottesville, Virginia, but we happily take on projects across Albemarle County and surrounding areas in Virginia. To date we've got projects in Farmville, Richmond, and the Harrisonburg area, and we've even done projects in North Carolina and Wisconsin! Let's chat to see if your project location is a good fit.
3. How much does it cost to hire an architect?
Every project is unique in many different ways, so design budgets will vary widely depending on scope, size, and complexity. 5. What makes Lamplight different from other firms?
We combine affordability, creativity, and technology to make design accessible. Our use of 3D visualization tools, including renderings, walkthroughs, and even detailed 3D printed models, helps clients feel confident before construction begins, and our team’s diverse background blends artistry, architectural expertise, and real-world construction insight.
6. Do you handle permits and construction?
While our primary role is design, we can also guide you through the permitting process and work closely with contractors to ensure your vision is carried out during construction.
7. Can you help with historic renovations?
Absolutely. Despite being a newer company, we have several historic preservation projects either in the works, or in progress. We love bringing new life to historic homes and community buildings, marrying modern-day functional needs with respect for original design features.
8. How do I get started?
It all begins with a free consultation. You can reach out via phone or email. We’ll get to know each other, talk about your project, and take things from there.
