The Small-But-Mighty Library
Charlottesville, Virginia
This tiny project wound up being an absolute stunner and packed full of details. The Owners' vision for a small, private home library turned an awkward den into the focal point of their home's main floor.

The Problem
This was a small 9x11 den that was the first thing you saw as you walked into their home, yet it served no real function. The Owners had a vision of transforming it into a dedicated, private library that could be closed off from the rest of the house. With an expansive book collection relegated to boxes, built-ins were the only real, elegant solution.

The Solution
New, contemporary sliding glass doors complement color-drenched built-in shelving that curves around two sides of the new library office. Recessed lighting, a library ladder, art bays, and a dark color drench, give the built-ins some visual interest and bring a warm, cozy, inviting feel to the space.
